Kerry Law is a New York artist and art teacher. Kerry Law’s understated brushwork, carefully formulated palette, and ability to animate his subjects within the scope of a particular situation, create both a timeless impression and ability to hold the moment in his seascapes, landscapes, and portraits. In short, Law’s paintings reference a sonnet as much as the visual landscape he inhabits and explores.
He possesses what many of us dreamed of as a child, such as the ability too render effortlessly, to really “see” shapes for what they are, to understand spatial relationships, and to mix a palette full of colors that just work right the first time around. These gifts seem both effortless and timeless to Law, and he simply accepts them for what they are, allowing him to reveal his personal narrative through the act of pure painting.
